With so much excitement, asking what is CBDA is is a common reaction. It is a good question to ask because CBDA may be able to help you manage and improve your health. CBDA (much like CBD) can be used to treat an assortment of health issues. Problems such as anxiety, chronic pain, restless sleep, depression, and nausea are just some health concerns people are using CBDA to treat. This overlap in uses is because CBD and CBDA are very closely related. However, these similarities can confuse knowing how the two chemicals differ.

How CBDA and CBD Are Related

To simplify, CBDA can be considered the parent substance of CBD because CBD is a derivative of CBDA. CBDA is an acidic and less processed form of the same chemical. Despite being very closely related, there are some differences between the two substances, which is what has led to the increased interest in CBDA and its possible benefits. For example, one area where CBDA shows particular possible benefit is in the treatment of cancer. While testing is ongoing, it shows potential in reducing cancer cell growth and increasing the rate at which cancer cells die.

How CBDA Is Made

CBDA develops in much the same way as related cannabinoids. It is a naturally occurring organic substance that is found in cannabis plants. A young cannabis plant is rich in cannabigerol acid. As the plant grows, however, cannabigerol acid slowly changes into other substances, and by the time a cannabis plant is fully grown, it contains very little cannabigerol acid and instead contains THCA and CBDA. The methods of extracting CBDA are similar to those used to create CBD. However, the key difference is preventing the exposure to light or heat that causes the chemical reactions that change CBDA into CBD. Because it is a rawer product CBDA is extracted directly from cannabis flowers. Once CBDA has been successfully extracted from cannabis flowers, it can then be combined with other substances such as oil to allow for easy use.

Final Thoughts

CBDA is a fascinating product with many potential uses that could greatly improve the quality of life for many people. Currently, CBDA is not as widely available as its related compound CBD, and it also has not received nearly as much testing. Luckily, that is quickly changing, and as more products are being developed, more in-depth trials are also ongoing to provide exact data on how CBDA can help people and what exactly it does. While easy to compare to CBD, CBDA is unique in its own right and looks to have several benefits of its own.
